Web Design Case Studies

All web design projects are different. I have included information on two design projects to emphasis the type of support a client may need on a web design project.

Louise Barrow Associates

Louise is a talented graphic designer based in Byron Bay, Australia. Louise designs logos, identities, packaging, illustrations, printed material, and web concepts. Louise loves to design but didn't want to get involved in the technical side of website creation. Working with Louise has allowed her to focus on the graphic design while I work on the technical building of the websites. She also gets the added advantage of working with a professional web designer for her own website. With new and interesting graphic design projects being developed all the time, we can easily and quickly update her website to represent her current work. Since I started working with Louise we have improved her website optimisation. Her Google position, for her keywords, is now on page one (currently second position).

The Snooker Gym

The Snooker Gym is a snooker coaching business that offers snooker training, videos, books, cds and an online membership site. The Snooker Gym does a large part of its sales online. The business wanted a webmaster to support the existing business and to help develop new technologies to improve its snooker coaching materials. I have supported the Snooker Gym with a number of services to help develop the business which included:

  • Search Engine Optimisation. The Snooker Gym is now on page one of Google for a number of its keywords.
  • A number of SEO blocks and problems were removed to increase traffic to all relevant areas of the website.
  • The website has been improved to make it more visual. Products now have pictures. Photographs are used to improve the sites appearance. Icons have been added for quick visual identification of information.
  • I have supported the company's marketing with: keyword analysis, Pay per Click, video (off and on site), site appearance, link building, blogging, HTML marketing emails, and article submission.
  • Templates have been created to allow The Snooker Gym to build their own marketing and sales pages quickly and easily.
  • The visual appearance of the membership sites have been improved along with their functionality.
  • The sales flow through the site was improved by creating more consistency throughout the site and removing confusing or irrelevant information.
  • New technologies have been developed to allow DVD material to be viewed on Apple ipods and iphones.
